Filippo Inzaghi probably deserves the flak that he is being dished out to at the moment. Well, it can’t be said that he is behind all AC Milan’s woes, but, he could certainly have done better as manager at San Siro. The former striker has tried to experiment a bit too much. While, he was within his rights to try out a few combinations and see what his best XI was, he must have given regular games to the players at the same positions to make them settle down.
However, you can’t brutally criticize him as he has had to make forced changes at times because of the injuries. Whatever games are left there in the season for Milan now, Inzaghi should make sure that he puts the best available line up on the park. As far as the defence is concerned, Inzaghi has plenty of options there, but, it’s the midfield where he is struggling to find a reliable player. Nigel De Jong is not delivering as much as he should or was expected to and neither is Ricardo Montolivo.
However, despite the patchy form, these two are still better than Sulley Muntari. Muntari’s defensive mindset makes him half the player that he actually is. He happens to be circumspect most of the times. Honda and Destro must be there in the offensive line of the Rossoneri as these two are blessed with speed and high quality striking skills. Actually, the XI that Inzaghi had started with in the previous fixture (that Cesena one) was not that bad. He had most of his in-form players in there and it paid off too. He should not look to make too many changes in that XI in the remaining games if he wants the team to get more consistent than they presently are.
