FOUR NAPOLI FIRST-TEAM PLAYERS COULD MISS MILAN CLASH

The international break is finally coming to an end and players will be looking forward to returning to their respective clubs and resume duties. Clubs and managers will be biting their fingers and hope their key players return to base free of injuries or covid-19.

Gennaro Gattuso and his Napoli side will soon start getting ready for their huge clash against table-toppers AC Milan, a match they must win if they want to close the already-established three-gap lead by a Zlatan Ibrahimovic-led side.

The Rossoneri sit atop the Serie A table after game week 7, having enjoyed a remarkable start to the 2020-21 season. They will be hoping that the reports currently flying around about their rivals’ team news are true, however, so they can capitalize on it.

Calciomercatois reporting that Gattuso may be prepared to be without the absence of four of his key players. Summer acquisition and club-record signing Victor Osimhen dislocated his shoulder while representing his country Nigeria away on international duty.

The striker will be a big miss for Gattuso, having made a bright start to life at the Naples since joining from the French league.

Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina could also be an absentee for the game as he battles with a muscle injury. He will however be assessed and monitored upon his return from the internationals, to see if there would be any chance for him to be in action.

Having tested positive for the coronavirus, ElseidHysaj is certain to miss the super clash on Sunday. The fourth candidate on the list of possible absentees is Timoue Bakayoko. The former Chelsea midfielder has been hit with a flu attack and it remains to be seen if he can recover on time to feature for his club on Sunday.
